Spear Motors Training Centre is a private educational Institution initiated by Spear Motors to address the desired need in Uganda. Spear Motors Training Centre was mainly established due to the critical shortage of technical and skilled manpower to man the automotive sector at a time when Government was and still is advocating for the Vocalization of education in Uganda.

Spear Motors Training Centre acquired recognition from the Ministry of Education and Sports with registration number PCS/S/99 and centre number UT087 from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB).

Spear Motors Training Centre is classified both as Technical and Vocational Educational Institution.

Courses offered

A two-year non-residential full-time course leading to the award of Motor Vehicle Technicians’ Certificate Part I (MVT I) and a Certificate in Automotive Mechanics offered by the Centre in collaboration with Daimler Chrysler Ag Stuttgart.
A one year non-residential full-time course leading to the award of Motor Vehicle Technicians’ Certificate Part II (MVT II) and a Certificate in Automotive Mechanics Part II.

History: Spear Motors Training Centre was established in1991 as Spear Motors Apprenticeship Training Centre. This was barely two years after the parent company Spear Motors Limited celebrated its 15th Anniversary. The initiation and subsequent founding of the Spear Motors Training Centre was by Mr. Gordon Wavamunno, the Chairman of the Spear Group of Companies. His vision was borne from the desire to produce a cadre of skilled and competent automotive mechanics and technicians by offering them a special and suitable technical training here in Uganda.

Entry Requirements: Spear Motors Training Centre minimum requirements for admission in the Institution are senior four (Ordinary level-Uganda Certificate of Education UCE) and senior six (Advanced level-Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education). Applicants should possess good credits in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

[related_posts]Admission policy: At Spear Motors Training Centre, the aspiring trainees should be between the ages of 18 -27 years .These are attracted through advertising on radio, television, newspapers, handouts, brochures, prospectuses and flyers. Females are always encouraged to pursue this Automobile Engineering course to compete with men where both male and females have same entrance points, the female gets the chance.
