Michelangelo College of Creative Arts Kasubi was named after the celebrated Artist “Michelangelo,” who was, and still is a major inspiration to many great Artists. Michelangelo College of Creative Arts Kasubi College was founded by the Brothers of St. Charles Lwanga (Bannakaroli Brothers) in 1989. The Noble idea was initiated by Bro. Frederick Musaazi, A professional Artist.

In 1995, with the guidance of the Governing Council of Michelangelo College of Creative Arts, the Ministry of Education and Sports, and the affiliation with the Institute of Teacher Education of Kyambogo (ITEK) currently Kyambogo University; led Michelangelo to a level of being recognized by the Council for Higher Education as a fully fledged Institution, which offers Diplomas and Certificates in Art and Design. Since then, it has managed to train over 3122 students under Diploma level and 2113 students under Certificate Level, through Informal Education.

Subjects: Art and Design constitutes the following subjects; History and Appreciation of Art, Drawing, Ceramics, Computer Graphics, Painting, Sculpture, Textile Designs, Multi-media Crafts, Development Studies and Marketing.

Admission Requirements: In order to give adequate opportunity to all their prospect students, Michelangelo College of Creative Arts Kasubi admits students twice a year in March and August. Michelangelo College of Creative Arts Kasubi has two entry schemes (Diploma and Certificate) and below is the admission requirements:

Diplomas: Two principle passes at A-Level, one of which must be Fine Art obtained in one sitting of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). And Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes and one must be in Fine Art or a Certificate in Art and Design and related disciplines from a recognized Institution.

Certificates: Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with 5 passes and one must be a credit in Fine Art. One principle pass at A-level in Fine Art is also considered for a certificate in art and design.

Objectives

To establish an institution of Fine Art where the youths can be trained to develop their talents in various fields of Art and Design.
To generate a spirit of self-reliance by equipping trainees with the necessary knowledge in Fine Art and Design, including modern and indigenous crafts.
To enable trainees to recognize their potential as Artists and develop their skills and indigenous crafts including related disciplines and
To encourage and assist trainees to develop a practice of working jointly as a team and equipping them with knowledge of partnerships, co-operatives, marketing and project planning and management.

Mission: Michelangelo College of Creative Arts Kasubi mission is to be a centre of art and design excellence by creating professionally qualified and skilled – oriented people.

Vision: Michelangelo College of Creative Arts Kasubi vision is to contribute to the professionalization of Art in Uganda by promoting Art and design through research and teaching programs for sustainable development
