Excel Junior School was started in 2006 by Mr., Anthony Byamugenzi to provide sustainable education and development in the community. It is a private, non-profit school with 350 students (20 of whom are boarders) in grades nursery through primary 7. Fees range from 45,000 shillings (about $21) for day scholars to 150,000 shillings (about $70) for boarders. It has 10 teachers occupying 10 classrooms.
Challenges facing the school are lack of textbooks and instructional materials. There are inadequate funds from parents due to the poverty in the area. Excel Junior School looks forward to sister school relationships.
