Pharmacy School Mulago is a pharmacy training institute located in Kampala the capital city of Uganda. The school offers a number of skills in pharmacological works. Pharmacy School Mulago evolved as a school of dispensers which was started in 1931 as a post basic course. The first trainees were Medical Assistants currently known as clinical officers. The school has official recognition and gazette by Ministry of Health under Allied Health Training Institution by the council. In 1973, the programme was evaluated for A-Level candidates in take. The programme now purely admits A-Level students as direct entrants who have entry requirements of two principal passes in chemistry and biology obtained at the same sitting.
Consultancy services: Pharmacy School Mulago offers consultancy services in health related Research, Training in Primary Health Care, Curriculum development and Implementation, Community-based Health Care, Distance education Health audits, Evaluation of projects/programmes and any other health related assignments.
Field experience: These are mandatory and trainees must complete field attachments and assignments. All trainees must provide some service to communities where they are attached. Candidates have to finish with a report written after their engagement into research work. This is considered as a requirement for the award of a diploma.
Mission: Pharmacy School Mulago mission is to develop competent Pharmacy Technicians equipped with knowledge, skills and attitude for preparing quality pharmaceuticals and manage health care activities ensuring rational medicine use.
How to apply: Pharmacy School Mulago applications are filled at the schools for Joint Admissions Board (JAB) at A-level. The private candidates can obtain the forms at JAB offices or at Paramedical Training Schools Head office at a cost. External or foreign students with certified translation of the original documents in English are also provided with these forms. The admission is both Government and private sponsored.
Facilities: Pharmacy School Mulago is well resourced with minimum basic requirements for training.
