Royal College opened its doors on 9th February 2004. The college opened with 74 students of whom 28 were from neighboring countries. Royal college is a private mixed day and boarding school. It has both ordinary and advanced levels. The school has all the modern facilities of a modern secondary school. The school offers Arts and science subjects at both ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels. It is full registered by the ministry of Education and sports and has a UNEB Center No. U1971.

Academics
For senior 1 and 2, students study a total number of 14 subjects, all compulsory. Senior 3 and 4 students offer a maximum number of 10 subjects 7 compulsory and 3 optional.
The compulsory subjects are: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, History, Biology, and Geography. The three optional subjects are selected from the following: Christian Religious Education, Literature in English, Commerce, Home Economics, French, Fine Art, and Technical Drawing. At A’ level (senior 5 and 6) the following subjects are offered under Science or Arts. History (H), Divinity (D), Economics (E), Literature (L), Mathematics (M), Physics (P), Chemistry (C), Biology (B). The extra subjects offered at ‘A’ level include:- Foods and nutrition (FN), Fine Art (F/A), French(F), General paper (GP), Technical Drawing
Facilities
Laboratory: The science laboratory is divided into junior laboratory for S.1, S. 2, & S.3 and a senior laboratory for S.4, S.5, & S.6. Royal college Makindye has experienced and qualified science teachers who undergo routine continuous professional development (CPD). Science subjects are all taught practically which motivates the leaners and brings reality meaning and application for these subjects. Laboratories are constantly organized by professional Laboratory technicians and are well stocked with Laboratory equipment, chemicals, and furniture that provide conducive practical lessons
Computer Laboratory: The College is proud of a well-stocked computer laboratory that enhances e-leaning and research. This is backed up by a well-stocked library
[related_posts]Our Dormitories: Royal College has spacious girls and boys dormitories which are well supplied with running water and power. The College has an automatic inverter that we never realize load shedding. The stand-by generator also adds assurance of full time power supply. The self-contained rooms in the girls’ hostel make it unique and admirable. The state of art residence is well tilled and fenced with full time security.
Sick bay: The College has a sick bay managed by a well-trained staff and it is fully stocked. This is in place with two full time nurses and a visiting doctor. Referral hospitals are a stone’s throw away.
